The Milwaukee Bucks were able to pick up a win against the Portland Trail Blazers last night and the “Greek Freak” showed us why he is a serious candidate for MVP this season.
Giannis Antetokounmpo caught fire and set a new career high of 44 points on, an efficient, 17 for 23 from the field. Grabbing 8 rebounds and 4 assists as well to help fill out the stat sheet. Using his length and athleticism, Giannis was able to get to the basket with ease and picked up some foul calls along the way. Going 9 for 13 at the free throw line. Even though he may have exploded on offense, Giannis’s biggest plays last night came on the defensive end.
With less than a shot clock to go and down by one, Giannis poked the ball away from C.J. McCollum. Giannis then proceeded to run the court and slam down a two-handed dunk to secure the lead. Then a one point lead with 10 seconds left. Quickly getting back on defense, Giannis, finds a driving Jusuf Nurkic and then proceeds to swat away Nurkic’ game winning layup attempt. With that block, Giannis was able to cap off a career night with a win in which, he dedicated the game ball to his late father.
Giannis Antetokounmpo has now solidified himself as a, force to be reckoned with, in the league. With his abilities I believe that, like a young Lebron James, Giannis will be able to carry the Bucks in the weak east and be a strong playoff team. As for his goal of becoming MVP this year, I believe that he is right track.
