The name Lonzo Ball has been all over headlines this offseason as expectations are high for the Lakers newest rookie. As the 2nd overall pick in the 2017 draft, Lonzo is expected to be a cornerstone piece for the Lakers franchise for years to come. Unknowingly to most though, the Lakers may have picked up another piece as well.
Kyle Kuzma so far has shined in the early stages of the season. At 6 foot 9 inches and 220lbs he may be a little undersized for the standard power forward, but in today’s game it’s all about stretching the floor and that’s what Kuzma brings to the table.
During Kuzma’s summer league showing, he put up averages of 22 points shooting 51.5% from the field, 6.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists. Capping off his summer league performance with the MVP of the championship game as well scoring 30, 6 for 10 behind the line, and grabbing 11 boards to go with it.
Now with preseason underway, Kuzma is showing no signs of slowing down, preparing for the upcoming season. Already averaging 21 points on 66% shooting as well as 47% from behind the line. Only time will tell if Kuzma is able to be in the league, but if his performance so far has been any indication, look for him to be an rising star in the years to come.
