Kobe’s 8 and 24 were retired a few days ago in honor of his 20-year career. He was known for bringing five NBA titles for the Lakers and is known as maybe the greatest player ever to wear purple and gold. But along with those five titles, he surely got some help from former All Star caliber big men.
Lakers fans might be wondering on which jersey should be retired next, especially given the numerous retired ones that they already have in their banners. However, Arash Markazi from ESPN chimes in:
The next Lakers number to be retired? Pau Gasol's No. 16. Gasol is just the 18th player in NBA history to score at least 20,000 points and grab at least 10,000 rebounds. The other 17 players are either in the Hall of Fame or will be (Dirk Nowitzki, Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnett).

If you follow this thread, Markazi made great points here: Gasol made the Lakers relevant again by bringing two more titles. Gasol has a great international resume, strengthening his case for the Hall of Fame. It will be interesting on how the franchise will handle this, but it would be a no-brainer the Lakers to think on retiring the Spaniard’s jersey.
Do you agree that Pau Gasol’s no. 16 should be retired in Lakers’ lore? Let us know down in the comments below.
